I've been pushing people to listen to Magik Markers and Sonic Youth for a week now anyway, so yeah...

You should listen to Our Brother the Native. Why? Because you like Animal Collective and CocoRosie, right? You don't? FOR SHAME! But if you do, well, their little Indian brothers should entertain you immensely. You could clearly hear the influence in Tooth and Claw (their debut release), but this far out collection of free folk gems is far from being a mere rendering of their older counterparts. Smoke a j, kick back, and ride OBTN's psychedelic melt.

http://rapidshare.com/files/16813976/our_brother_the_native_-_tooth_and_claw__fat_cat__2006_.zip

///

I was snooping around teh interwebs for Art Ensemble of Chicago albums (which I did find, thank you very much) and stumbled upon this magnificent aural dronefest acid scratch blasting out like the 60’s eastern influenced folk and rock was out of fucking style.
Recorded direct to two-track tape with guitars, violins, cello, banjo, mandolin, tanpura, clarinet, recorders, flute, whistles, trombone, various home-made instruments, percussion, organ, toy piano, and an arsenal of Casio toy organs, the Vibracathedral Orchestra would make any hippie rejoice and any noisesician hark while drowning on that really fat joint or the occasional Nam acid flashback. You should definitely listen to this and be home schooled brah. Close the door though, you don't want your ex-hippie parents finding out their kid is another one of those neo-hippie hackysackers with better grass than them.

Think Third Ear Band, Hapsash and the Colored Coat, George Harrison, and Velvet Underground and you’ve come close. Save your life from boring radio commercials and playlists, the way to the future is the way of the past (with added bells and whistle, which quite ironically this band has as well).
http://www.mediafire.com/?5xxgfx0y0ma
